Recap:
The Moeller Freshman took their annual weekend trip on the road today, traveling north to Defiance, Ohio for a Friday evening game vs. the Defiance Bulldogs.
This game turned out to be a pitcher's dual
Josh Adelsperger and 3 Defiance pitchers.
Each team allowed the other team 2 hits. But, it was Adelsperger who did not allow a run. This coupled with the Moeller defense, sent the Crusaders to victory.
Moeller's 2 hits did not result in runs scoring.
Adam Holstein led off the game with a line drive base hit and
Jake Gaerke banged out his hit in the second inning.
The game was scoreless until the top of the 6th inning.
Carson Shroyer led off with by getting hit by the pitch.
Tyler Zimmerman walked and Desmon Gault ran for Zimmerman.
Shroyer stole third base and scored on a wild pitch. With 1 out,
Teagan Cumberland was hit by the pitch and
Carson Curran walked to load the bases. Landon Adams was the third Crusader to be hit by the pitch in the inning to score Gault from third base.
Adelsperger pitched 7 innings on 2 hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts to pick up the win.
The Freshman record goes to (17-4) and (5-3) to tie for the lead in the GCL.
