The Moeller Freshman tied the ribbon on a record setting year over the weekend by downing the Butler Aviators in 5 innings by a score of 15-5.
Reggie Watson III led off the game with a double to right center field.
Zac Wittenauer collected his first of three hits and
Ronnie Allen followed with a ground rule double.
Ricky Maschinot walked and
Connor Maupin singled to put the Crusaders up 4-0. Moeller was not done.
In the bottom of the 2
nd inning, they sent 17 batters to the plate scoring 11 more runs.
Those collecting hits in the game in addition to
Zac Wittenauer's 3 hits, were,
Ronnie Allen 2 doubled,
Connor Maupin 2 for 3 including a walk and 2 RBI's.
Brody Schmidt a double, and
Tommy Clemandot, Rick Maschinot, John Stofko, and
Carter Matthews.
Carson Fuhrer got the start on the mound and collected the win throwing 3.2 innings, allowing 5 runs, 3 earned, on 2 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Luke Sobolewski was lights out again in relief pitching 1.1 innings no runs, no hits, and 3 strikeouts.
The Moeller Freshman record of (26-0) is the most wins by a Freshman team in school history
Only 1 other Moeller Freshman team finished the season undefeated and that was the 1996 team that went (18-0).
The Freshman team finished the year as GCL Champions with a (9-0) record and (26-0) overall.
