The Moeller Freshman Baseball Team ended their banner year today at Kremchek Field staging a dramatic come from behind victory over the St. Xavier Bombers 7-6 and in doing so, won their 24
th game of the year.
Down 6-0 after 2 innings, the Crusaders went to work. Never count the Crusaders out. In the bottom of the 3
rd inning,
Tommy Jewell and
Braylon Connell singled. Jewell scored Moeller's 1
st run when
Connor Fuhrer reached on an error by the shortstop.
In the bottom of the 6
th inning Moeller posted 3 more runs with 2 outs and no one on base.
Joey Watts was hit by the pitch,
Jack Schreck drilled a base hit,
Braylon Connell reached on an error.
Connor Fuhrer walked, and
Brody Foltz singled to drive in Moeller's 3
rd and 4
th runs.
With 2 outs in the bottom of the 7
th inning, that's when these young Men of Moeller went to work.
Logan Rosenberger walks,
Finn O'Keefe reaches on an error, Rosey scores when
Jack Schreck also reaches on an error. With runners on 1
st and 3
rd, Schreck steals 2
nd to put the tying and winning runs at 2
nd and 3
rd.
Up to the plate walks
Braylon Connell. Down to his last strike, Braylon steps up huge, and lines a base hit down the right field line. Here comes
Jack Schreck around third, and the Moeller Freshman storm the field.
Moeller Wins. Moeller Wins, Moeller Wins!!!
Yoshi Kambayashi was the starting pitcher followed by
Owen Holland. Yoshi pitched 1 inning and Owen 2 innings.
Matt Fogler then pitched the next 2 innings of shutout baseball to set up the win for
Finn O'Keefe who pitched the last perfect inning.
The Moeller Freshman end the season with a splendid 24-1 overall record and an undefeated 9-0 GCL Championship season.
