The Moeller Freshman completed the first round of GCL competition today by downing the Elder Panthers at the Moeller Athletic Complex 11-2 to remain undefeated in league play.
Pitching, timely hitting and great defense let to our win.
Carter Christenson started and pitched the first 3.2 innings, 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 5 walks and 4 strikeouts to pick up the win.
Logan Rosenberger got the save tossing the last 3.1 innings, also allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
Elder's starting pitcher had trouble throwing strikes in the 1
st inning.
Carter Christenson and
Jovan Love walked,
Eric Fleetwood and
Jake Bell were hit by the pitch and
Connor Scoggins walked to net the Crusaders 2 runs in the 1
st inning.
He then walked
Tucker Wilburn,
Charlie Valencic, and
Eric Fleetwood to net Moeller 2 more runs. But it was the 6 run 5
th inning that sealed the Moeller victory.
Jake Bell led off the inning with a line drive base hit,
Connor Scoggins walked and Matt Fogler reached on an error.
Griffin Booth singled as did
Charlie Valencic with Big E lining a single to right center to round out the hits for the inning.
Moeller round out the scoring in the 7
th inning
Connor Scoggins got his 3
rd walk of the game and scored from 1
st on a
Cooper Ridley drive to center field.
The Moeller Freshman record goes to 5-0 and 3-0 to lead the GCL!
