The Moeller Freshman opened the 2022 high school baseball season today with 5 inning run rule game vs. Harrison 11-1.
Moeller started early,
Charlie Valencic led off the game with a solo home run over the center field fence.
Carter Christenson followed with a base hit which then led to Moeller's 2
nd home run of the inning.
This time it was
Jovan Love who went yard to put the Crusaders up 3-0.
After
Eric Fleetwood reached on an error,
Jake Bell singled and 2 wild pitches scored
Braylon Connell who was pinch running for Fleetwood scored from 3
rd on a wild pitch.
Moe scored their 5
th run on walks by Love and Fleetwood, a passed ball and a sac fly by
Jake Bell.
The 5
th inning saw the Frosh put 4 more runs on the board.
Brody Foltz led off the inning with a walk.
Matthew Fogler doubled,
Joey Watts singled to drive in Foltz. Fogler scored on a passed ball and Watts touched home on
Charlie Valencic's 2
nd RBI of the day.
Carter Christenson walked, and pinch hitter
Finn O'Keefe lined a base hit to left field to plate Moeller's final run.
Joey Watts and
Jovan Love combined to hold the Wildcats to 1 run on 2 hits. Watts struck out 4, walked 2 with 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings of work to pick up the win.
Love tossed the final 2 innings, striking out 3, with 1 hit and 2 walks.
The Moeller Frosh are 1-0 on the year.
