The Moeller Freshman took on state division 2 powerhouse Defiance in northwest Ohio and came out on top in an extra inning game.  

The Moeller pitching was great. Carson Fuhrer and Luke Sobolewski were stellar.  

Fuhrer started and pitched 4 innings and striking out the first 4 batters he faced.

Sobolewski pitched the last 4 innings of shutout baseball allowing the Bulldogs only 2 hits on 1 walk and 5 strikeouts to pick up the victory.  

Moeller scored first in the bottom of 2^nd inning. Connor Maupin singled and went to 2^nd on a passed ball. 

Brody Schmidt reached on an E5 to drive in Maupin. Reggie Watson III then tripled to right center to score Schmidt and Zac Wittenauer singled to score Watson.  

Defiance answered in the 3^rd inning to tie the game at 3. After 4 scoreless innings, the Crusaders opened the 8^th inning with Mike Weber reaching on a strikeout/passed ball.  

Brody Schmidt then drilled a triple to the wall, to score Kadin Ward who pinch ran for Weber.

Reggie Watson III then singled to score Schmidt and Wittenauer singled to score Watson.  

Sobolewski slammed the door on the Bulldogs in the bottom of the 8^th to a standing ovation of the parents to send the Crusaders to victory and their 20^th win of the season.  

Freshman record jumps to (20-0) and (8-0) in the GCL.
