#1 Moeller edges GCL rival Elder in DI Regional Baseball Final, 7-6!

Moeller is headed back to STATE FINAL FOUR!

The Crusaders take on Walsh Jesuit next Thursday, June 8 at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio.

First pitch is scheduled for 10:00pm. See you there Crusaders fans! 

Recap: Moeller Holds Onto Victory as Elder Almost Erases 4-Run Deficit

Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, Moeller still held off Elder for a 7-6 victory on Friday. The Panthers scored three runs on a double in the fifth inning.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. The Crusaders collected nine hits and the Panthers had seven.

Elder got on the board in the first inning when Luke Vaughn homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

Moeller evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning when Nathan Manley doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

The Crusaders pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Clay Burdette doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run and Conlan Daniel doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Elder scored three runs in the fifth inning. The Panthers scored its runs on a double by Drew Edrich.

Zion Theophilus earned the win for The Crusaders. The right hander surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out five. Carson Marsh threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Marsh recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Moeller.

Ben Schoster took the loss for Elder. The pitcher allowed four hits and five runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Moeller racked up nine hits. Manley, CJ Richard, and Toby Hueber all managed multiple hits for The Crusaders. Manley led Moeller with three hits in four at bats. The Crusaders didn't commit a single error in the field. Manley had the most chances in the field with eight.

The Panthers racked up seven hits on the day. Edrich, Kevin Hilton, and Brayden Curlis each racked up multiple hits for Elder. The Panthers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Ben Wiegand made the most plays with six.

#1 Moeller improves to (29-3) this season, (3-1) against GCL rival Elder! The Crusaders punch their ticket back to the Final Four for the first time since 2015!
