Recap: Moeller Grabs Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat West Clermont Wolves
Moeller defeated West Clermont 10-4 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The Crusaders were down 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning when
Nathan Manley singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
The Crusaders secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Moeller was led by Manley,
Charlie Niehaus,
Connor Christenson,
Conlan Daniel,
CJ Richard, and
Toby Hueber, all sending runners across the plate with RBI's in the inning.
Carson Marsh led the Moeller to victory on the mound. Marsh lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero.
Sam Scuglik and
Kellan Klosterman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Zach Swartz took the loss for West Clermont. The hurler surrendered four runs on three hits over one and one-third innings.
Trevor Zeigler started the game for the Wolves. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out one Hueber started the game for Moeller. The pitcher went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.
Moeller racked up nine hits in the game. Manley, Niehaus, and Hueber all had multiple hits for the Crusaders. Hueber, Niehaus, and Manley all had two hits to lead the Crusaders. Moeller didn't commit a single error in the field.
Clay Burdette had the most chances in the field with eight.
West Clermont had eight hits in the game. Connor Kasten, Riley Wooldridge, and Cody Sunday all collected multiple hits for the Wolves.
#1 Moeller improves to (28-3) this season and is just 3 wins away from another State Championship.
