Recap: Moeller Crusaders Varsity Clinches Lead in Eighth Inning for Victory Over St. Xavier
 
Moeller snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over St. Xavier on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with the Crusaders batting in the top of the eighth when Clay Burdette singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Moeller secured the victory thanks to six runs in the eighth inning. Burdette, Connor Christenson, Carter Christenson, and CJ Richard each had RBIs in the big inning.
 
St. Xavier took an early lead in the second inning. PJ Rose drove in one when Rose singled. 
 
The Crusaders knotted the game up at three in the top of the sixth inning, when Christenson's sac fly scored one run for Moeller.
 
Carson Marsh was the winning pitcher for the Crusaders. Marsh surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out six and walking one.
 
Logan Wells took the loss for St. Xavier. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out two and walking one.
 
Brennan Hileman started the game for St. Xavier. The hurler surrendered three runs on two hits over six innings, striking out seven Zion Theophilus started the game for Moeller. The right hander lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one
 
Moeller had eight hits in the game. Christenson, Burdette, and Christenson all collected multiple hits for the Crusaders. Christenson, Burdette, and Christenson each collected two hits to lead Moeller. The Crusaders were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nathan Manley had the most chances in the field with 12.
 
Jack Ryan led St. Xavier with two hits in three at bats.
