Recap: Moeller's Early Lead Over Covington Catholic Sets Stage For Victory
 
Moeller jumped out to an early lead over Covington Catholic and took home an 8-2 victory on Friday. The Crusaders scored on a sacrifice fly by Toby Hueber in the first inning and a double by Ethan Sweat in the second inning.
 
In the bottom of the first inning, Covington Catholic tied things up at one. Covington Catholic scored one run when Fitz singled.
 
Moeller pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Sweat doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
 
The Crusaders tallied three runs in the seventh inning. Charlie Niehaus, Connor Christenson, and Conlan Daniel each had RBIs in the big inning.
 
Hueber took the win for the Crusaders. The right hander allowed eight hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking zero. Sam Scuglik threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Scuglik recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Moeller.
 
Pieper took the loss for Covington Catholic. The pitcher went six and a third innings, allowing eight runs on 13 hits and striking out two.
 
Moeller collected 13 hits. Niehaus, Clay Burdette, and Hueber all had multiple hits for the Crusaders. Niehaus led Moeller with three hits in three at bats.
 
Dierue went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Covington Catholic in hits.
