Recap: Moeller Defeats Dixie Heights Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning
Moeller managed through a push by Dixie Heights in the fifth inning where the Crusaders coughed up three runs, but Moeller still won 12-5 on Thursday.
Dixie Heights's big inning was driven by a walk by Michael Rogers and an error on a ball put in play by Luke Abeling.
In the first inning, the Crusaders got their offense started. Moeller scored one run when
Nolan Krekeler doubled.
Moeller scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Crusaders batters contributing to the big inning included
Finn Ellis,
Conlan Daniel,
Dax Heilmann, and
Max Gildea, who all drove in runs.
Luke Pappano was the winning pitcher for the Crusaders. Pappano went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out six.
Carson Marsh and
Sam Scuglik entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Brayden Runion took the loss for Dixie Heights. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing five hits and eight runs while striking out three.
Moeller socked one home run on the day.

Dixie Heights saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Ethan Bosley, Owen Lawrence, Carter Schorer, and Ryle Cullen all managed multiple hits for Dixie Heights. Bosley went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Dixie Heights in hits.
