The Moeller Crusaders nabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over La Salle on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with the Crusaders batting in the bottom of the sixth when
Charlie Niehaus singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Moeller earned the victory despite allowing La Salle to score three runs in the second inning. La Salle's big inning was driven by singles by Tyler Forest and Mick O'Connor and a walk by Bradyn Betz.
La Salle got things started in the second inning. Forest singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Zion Theophilus got the win for the Crusaders. The right hander allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Patrick Villamagna took the loss for La Salle. The hurler surrendered three runs on six hits over five and a third innings, striking out three.
Kellan Klosterman started the game for Moeller. Klosterman allowed four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out seven.
The Crusaders tallied eight hits on the day.
Nathan Manley and
Toby Hueber all managed multiple hits for Moeller. Hueber and Manley each collected two hits to lead the Crusaders to a GCL Sputh victory.
