The Moeller Crusaders took a short road trip last night to the Highlands High School to take on the Bluebirds. The bats were hot for the Crusaders starting off and they were able to score 3 runs in the top of the first, 2 in the third and add another in the 4th on several hits including two home runs, one 3 run shot by Nate E. 22 in the first and another solo shot by Toby H. '23 in the fourth. Highlands had a monster fourth inning for themselves putting up four runs and heading into the fifth inning your Crusaders had a 6-4 lead. They would go on to add two more runs in the top of the fifth with another solo homerun by Clay B. '23 and an RBI single by Cole R. '21. Highlands would not go down without a fight though, putting up three runs of their own in the fifth and adding another run in the sixth to tie the game at 8, and with no runs scored by either team in the seventh, the game was headed to extra innings.

Crusaders bats get hot in extra innings and are able to beat the Bluebirds 17-8 in 8 innings! The freshmen also secure the W beating the Bluebirds 6-1. Cole R. '21 got the Crusaders started with a lead off single, followed by a pair of walks then a 2 run single by Nate E. '22 gave the Crusaders a 10-8 lead in the top of the eighth, but the offensive onslaught was far from over. The Crusaders would capitalize on 2 more walks and an error in the field giving them another 4 runs. Three more run scoring singles from Moeller would give them a 9 run eighth inning and give them a 17-8 lead over the Bluebirds. In the bottom of the eighth, the Crusaders were able to get three outs in the first 4 batters and squash the Bluebirds comeback and improve to 10-7 on the year. The Crusaders are back at it this afternoon taking on Lakota West in the Reds Futures High School Showcase, first pitch at 4:00pm.

In last night's 8 inning 17-8 victory over Highlands, the Crusaders set the school record for stolen bases in a game with 13. Zach French led the way with 4.
