MOELLER 3 ST. XAVIER 0
Â
Moeller clinched an outright GCL South title with a 3-0 win over the St. Xavier Bombers at the Schuler Sports Complex. The win moves the JV's record to 16-5 and 7-1 in league play with the final league game to be played at St. Xavier on Wednesday.
Â
Junior
Noah Curi (LHP)) was near perfect pitching a no-hitter while striking out 13 Bombers. Noah walked two and a batter reached base on a Crusader error. Curi threw 85 pitches, 61 for strikes. His fastball was over powering and his off speed pitches kept the St. Xavier hitters off balance the entire game. Right fielder
Ethan Brose made a diving catch of a soft line drive in the fifth inning to preserve the no-no.
Â
Moeller scored an unearned run in the third on an infield hit by
Max Steffen (C), a single by
Zach French (SS) and a ground ball error that scored Steffen from second base. The Crusaders went up 2-0 in the fourth when Michael Ramsey (1B) singled to center went to second on
Grant Blomeke's (3B) sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a single by second baseman Tristan Melvin and scored on an infield out by
Ethan Brose.
Â
The Jv's scored an insurance run in the sixth when Ramsey led off the inning with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when a pickoff attempt by the catcher went down the left field line.
Â
The Crusaders are in action Tuesday v Centerville at the Schuler Sports Complex. Travel to St. Xavier on Wednesday and end up the season on Saturday with a 12:00 game v Lebanon at the Blue Ash Sports Complex.
