#5 MOELLER  10
#4 ST. XAVIER  7
#5 Moeller goes on the road an eliminates #4 St. Xavier.
The Crusaders advance to a OHSAA Regional Semifinal matchup with #9 Mason next Friday night.
Recap:
The energy was off the charts Friday night at Ballaban field.
Fans started pouring into the sold out stadium hours before kickoff to see these two rivals clash.
After a scoreless defensive battle in the first quarter, the offenses got going in the second.
St. Xavier opened up the scoring late in the second quarter with a 49 yard touchdown pass down the Bomber sideline.
Moeller quickly responded marching right down the field with
Jovan Love,
Jordan Marshall and company.
Marshall punched it in from 2 yards out to tie the game up at 7 before halftime.
The senior captain, who many didn't expect to play, delivered a gutty performance Friday night.
Jordan finished the night carrying the ball 23 times for 127 yards and a touchdown.
He was also very effective in the passing game finishing with 38 receiving yards, second on the team.
However, the story of the game as it has been for most of this season was the defense.
The Crusaders held the Bombers to just 7 points and 70 total rushing yards.
Sophomore Connor Couzzo was the player of the game on defense for Big Moe.
Couzzo finished with 10 total tackles, 9 solo, and the game sealing INT late in the 4th quarter.
Kyler Paul and
Thomas Gerke were also excellent against the Bombers Friday night.
Gerke finished with 3 big tackles for loss, while senior captain
Kyler Paul recorded 7 tackles of his own.
Moeller's defense was suffocating and forced the St. Xavier quarterback duo into many tough situations.
Look for the Crusaders to continue to lean on this defense the rest of the way through the playoffs.
It was a complete TEAM WIN on Friday night. Thank you to all the fans for the love and support.
The Crusaders advance to the OHSAA Regional Semifinals next Friday, November 10 vs. #9 Mason.
