Moeller Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019 Announced

Congratulations to the Moeller Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019!

Brian Hindersman, 1989

Brian Hindersman becomes the fourth player on the 1989 baseball team to be inducted into the Moeller High School Hall of Fame. Hindersman, who played for Mike Cameron, joins teammates David Bell (3B, 1990), Adam Hyzdu (CF, 1990) and Mike Olexa (SS, 1989).

Brian was a RHP/1B for three varsity seasons and was a major contributor to the Crusaders winning their second state baseball championship in 1989.

He had a solid regular season on the mound in 1989, but it was his performance during the state tournament run that showed his hall of fame qualities. He was the winning pitcher in four of the eight games including the regional finals, state semi-finals and the state championship game. The bigger the game, the better Brian pitched.

His career stats put him in the top ten in several categories including wins (15), game appearances (27), starts (24), innings pitched (150), complete games (16) and strikeouts (117).  Brian also played 1B and had a career batting average of .320.   He was first team all league and all city his senior year.

He also played two years of varsity football for head coach Steve Klonne.  He was a center his senior year and earned first team all league and all city honors.

He finished his baseball career at Xavier University where he played three years for Larry Redwine and his senior year for John Morrie.

Cameron Satterwhite, 2005

Cameron was a three-year starter in centerfield for coach Mike Cameron. In his junior year (2004), he led Moeller to their fourth state baseball championship along with two other Moeller Hall of Fame inductees Andrew Brackman (RHP, 2004) and Eric Surkamp (LHP, 2005).

Cams had outstanding baseball skills, but it was his tremendous work habits, dedication and self-motivation that made him one of Moeller's best all around baseball players. He was a clutch hitter setting the school career RBI record with 88.

Besides his RBI record, Cameron is in the top ten in multiple career hitting statistics. These include plate appearances (313), hits (95), doubles (23), homeruns (11), runs scored (77), walks (40), and batting average (.368).

Cameron received many honors and awards during his career including being named all league three times, league's Most Outstanding Player his junior year, league Captain's award his senior year, first team all city two times, first team all state his senior year, team captain his senior year and selected as the team's Most Valuable Player twice, making him only the second player in school history to receive this honor.

Following his senior year at Moeller, he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the amateur draft, but accepted a baseball scholarship to Indiana University. He finished his collegiate career at the University of Cincinnati playing for coach Brian Cleary.  After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, he played two years in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Dean Gaier, 2007

As a wrestler, Dean was a 3x Ohio D1 state placer and 4x state qualifier.  He won 2 district titles and 3 GCL titles and earned Academic All-Ohio 3x.  His state points helped lift Moeller to three top 5 state finishes as a team.  He holds individual school records in total pins, technical pins, and near falls and ranks in the top 10 in five other categories.

As a football player, Dean was a 2 year starter as a defensive back and earned the "Man of Moeller" football award.

During his senior year he was recognized as a team captain for wrestling and football,  elected a school Vice-Captain, and was recognized as the school's "Man of Moeller".  After graduation, Dean coached 5 years at Moeller in football and wrestling.

In football he was head JV coach for 1 year and an assistant coach for the 2012 state championship football team.

Spencer Iacovone, 2013

Spencer is a unique athlete in Moeller's storied sports history. Spencer was on three state championship teams. He was on the 2012 and 2013 State Champion Baseball team and the 2012 State Champion Football team.

Spencer was All-City and All-GCL in both sports in his junior and senior year. As a quarterback his career passing yardage (4299) ranks him second all time, and he also ranks second in TD passes with 44. He also contributed as a runner gaining 1463 yards in his career.

As a leader on the two State Baseball Championships he led the team in RBI's with 36 his senior year and in HR's his junior year with 5. He ranks in the top ten in three single season categories – doubles, RBI's and walks.
