MOELLER 6 ST. XAVIER 2 (B Game)
The Crusaders traveled to North Bend Road today and won a doubleheader. In game #1 they beat a team called “The Rain.” In the second, and most important game, they beat the St. Xavier Bombers. St. X scored first in the bottom of the 2nd inning to lead 1-0 off Moeller starter Sam Scuglik. But it’s hard to hold the Crusaders down. In the top of the 4th inning, Tanner Coe led off with a walk and stole second base.
Sam Scuglik banged his first of 2 doubles over the centerfielder’s head to score Coe. Seth Williams walked. Scuglik and Williams moved up on wild pitches and Scuglik scored on another wild pitch to send Moeller up 2-1. Big Moe plated 3 more runs in the 5th inning all with 2 outs. Kellan Klosterman was hit by the pitch, Tanner Coe walked, and Scuglik collected his 2nd double and 3rd rbi on the day.
Evan Scott lined a single to score Scuglik and Seth Williams singled to finish the inning to send Moe up 5-1. Moeller scored their 6th and final run on walks to Cameron Gilreath and JJ Miller and after a double steal, Ashton Winder hit a Sac Fly to score Gilreath. Drew Budd lined a single to right center field to round out the Moeller hitting attack. Sam Scuglik started the game on the mound and pitched 4 innings, allowing 1 earned run, 2 hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Will McCullough tossed the next 2 innings giving up 1 unearned run, on 1 hit, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Luke McCullough closed the game pitching the last inning while facing the minimum of 3 batters.
