Freshman Baseball Game Notes — Talawanda April 15, 2021

MOELLER 13 TALAWANDA 2 (5 INNINGS)
In their first run rule game of the season, the Moeller Freshman allowed 2 unearned runs in the top of the 1st inning to the Talawanda Braves but came back with vengeance in the bottom of the 1irst inning, sending 17 batters to the plate. JJ Miller led off with a line drive single. Jordan Marshall walked and Ethan Page doubled to score Miller and Marshall to tie the game at 2 each. Kaden Snodgrass walked, Sam Scuglik singled to score Page. Forrest Day walked and with 1 out Evan Scott singled to score Snodgrass. Tanner Coe reached on an error and Scuglik and Day scored to put the Crusaders up 6-2. Not done yet.
JJ Miller collected his 2nd hit of the inning and Scott scores. Marshall walks, Page reaches on an error, Snodgrass singles and Scuglik get his 2nd hit of the inning. When the inning was over Moeller was up 11-2. The Crusaders added 1 an additional run in the 2nd inning. Tanner Coe and Jacob Asbeck singled and Sam Scuglik walked with bases loaded to score Coe and pick up the RBI. Big Moe’s final run scored in the bottom of the 4th inning when Jacob Asbeck collected his 2nd hit of the game, Ashton Winder walked and both advanced on a wild pitch. Luke Dietrich grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Asbeck.
The pitching duties were handled by starter Sam Scuglik who tossed 3 innings, 2 unearned runs, 3 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts to pick up the win. Luke Dietrich pitched the 4th inning allowing 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Luke McCullough closed out the game pitching a perfect 5th inning setting the Braves down 1-2-3. The Moeller Freshman stands at 9-2 overall and 3-0 to lead the GCL.
