By Ron Roth, Freshman Baseball Coach
MOELLER 7 LASALLE 0
The LaSalle Lancers were the opponent today at the Blue Ash Sports Complex. And the Crusaders greeted them with a big dose of quality pitching in the form of strikes from David Hagen and Ethan Page. Hagen earned the win by pitching 6 innings on 2 hit baseball with no walks, and 7 strikeouts. Hagen threw 57 strikes out of 79 total pitches. If that wasn’t enough, Ethan Page pitched the 7th inning facing 3 batters and retiring the side on 5 pitches…all strikes. The Moeller bats went to work in the bottom in the bottom of the 1st inning.
Jordan Marshall led off with a walk, followed by Ethan Page getting hit by the pitch. After a wild pitch to move Marshall and Page up, Ryan Land hit a Sac Fly to left to score Marshall. Kayden Snodgrass singled to score Page. Moeller scored 2 more runs in the second inning. Sam Scuglik singled, Seth Williams walked. Cale Migal put down a perfect bunt. Marshall hit into a fielder’s choice to score Scuglik, and Page singled to score Williams. The 5th inning netted the Crusaders 2 more runs. Marshall singled, Page reaches on an error, David Hagen walks as does Ryan Land to score Marshall. Will McCullough was hit by the pitch to score Page.
Moeller’s final run was set up by a double down the leftfield line by JJ Miller, a base hit from Cameron Gilreath, and a Sac Fly by David Hagen. The Moeller Freshman record is now 8-2 overall and 3-0 to lead the GCL.
