Freshman Baseball Game Notes — Highlands (KY) April 9, 2021

HIGHLANDS 3 MOELLER 2
The error bug bit our Crusaders today on Crosley Field at the Blue Ash Sports Complex. The Highlands Blue Birds crossed the Ohio River to pin a 3-2 loss on the Moeller Frosh. Two crucial errors led to 3 unearned runs which proved to be enough for Highlands starting pitcher who held the Crusaders at bay for the first 5 innings. In the bottom of the 6th inning, with 1 out, Ryan Land singled. Will McCullough walked and Forrest Day singled to score pinch runner Cameron Gilreath for Moeller’s first run.
Cale Migal walked to load the bases and Jordan Marshall followed with a walk to send McCullough home with Moeller’s second run. The Crusaders did make it exciting in the bottom of the 7th inning. Kaden Snodgrass walked and pinch runner Tanner Coe stole second base. With 1 out, Ryan Land singled to right and Coe was thrown out at the plate trying to score the tying run. The Frosh were not done yet. Will McCullough reached on an error, Forrest Day walked to load the bases with 2 outs.
The game ended on a fly ball to right. Jordan Marshall and Ethan Page also collected hits in the game. Drew Budd started the game allowing the 3 unearned runs giving up 1 hit with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Luke Dietrich followed Budd to the mound tossing 3.2 innings with no runs, 5 hits, 2 walks and 1 strikeouts. Ethan Page came in the game with bases loaded and 2 outs and got the 3rd out on a comebacker to the mound for the 3rd out. Moeller’s record goes to 5-2 and 1-0 in the GCL.
