Freshman Baseball Scrimmage Notes — Kings March 24, 2021
By Ron Roth, Freshman Baseball Coach
MOELLER 10 KINGS 1 (SCRIMMAGE)
This was our 4th and final pre-season scrimmage. And again, it was a road trip for the Crusaders. This was a great pitching performance by the Moeller pitching staff. Four Crusader pitchers held the Kings Knights to only 1 run on 1 lone hit, while striking out 8 Kings batters. Drew Budd pitched the first 4 innings allowing the 1 run on 1 hit with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Evan Scott followed pitching the next two thirds of an inning giving way to Will McCullough in a bases loaded situation. Will came in and got the first batter he faced to ground out to first base. After turning in a 1-2-3 inning on the Knights in the home half of the 5th inning, McCullough gave way to Ethan Page who struck out the side to end the game in the seventh inning. On the offense side of the ledger, Moeller scored 1 run in the first inning when Jordan Marshall walked to lead off the inning, stole second, and scored on a Tanner Coe base hit.
It was Coe again in the third inning collecting his 2nd hit of the day, advancing to second on a passed ball and scoring on Sam Scuglik's line drive base hit. Moeller added 2 more runs in the fourth inning when Jordan Marshall sent a line drive double to the right centerfield fence to score Cameron Gilreith and Drew Budd. Moeller added 6 more runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal the victory. Other Crusaders to collect hits were a double by Luke Dietrich and base hits from Kaden Snodgrass, Forrest Day, and Ethen Page.
