Freshman Baseball Game Notes — Ryle (KY) March 30, 2021

MOELLER  13   RYLE  11

Ryle High School sent their Raiders to Blue Ash today from Northern Kentucky to take on our Moeller Crusaders.   Pitching was not the strong suit for either team today.   Moeller scored first in the bottom of the first inning when the Ryle starting pitcher walked 7 out of 8 Crusader batters after Jordan Marshall led off the game by reaching first on an error.  This resulted in 5 1st inning runs.  Drew Budd pitched the first 3 innings allowing only 1 unearned run, 2 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Moeller added 1 run in the 2nd inning on a single by David Hagen and double from Kaden Snodgrass.  Moeller went up 9-1 when the Raider pitchers walked Evan Scott, Cale Migal, and Jordan Marshall to setup a bases loaded single by Ethan Page to score pinch runner, Tyler Heflin and Cale Migal.  David Hagen followed with a hit to score Marshall.  Moeller pitching had their control problems also.  Seven walks and 2 errors, Moeller found themselves down 11-9 with 2 outs in the top of the 5th inning.   Enter Moeller's Star of the Game, Luke Dietrich.

Luke gets the 3rd out and shuts out the Raiders in the top of the 6th inning.  In the bottom of the 6th inning, Will McCullough leads off the inning with a walk and steals second.  Cale Migal walks and enter the Star of the Game.   Luke Dietrich was called on to bunt the winning runs to second and third, but his bunt was so good, he beat in out for a base hit.  Ethan Page then got his 2nd hit and 3rd and 4th RBIs to send the Crusaders to victory.   Dietrick shut the Raiders down in the 7th inning to seal the victory.
