Junior Matt Ponatoski is your 2025 Gatorade Ohio Baseball Player of the Year.

Ponatoski is now the sixth Gatorade Player of the Year recipient from Moeller and the second in a row (Zion Theophilus 2024).

Matt joins a very rare list of athletes who've won Gatorade state awards for 2 team sports in the same school year.

This list Includes only Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Mauer (Minnesota) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss (West Virginia).

Gatorade is in its 40th year of honoring the nation's most elite high school athletes.

Ponatoski was named the Football Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year this past fall en route to a (14-2) season. 

Ponatoski, recently named Ohio's No. 1 baseball player in his class by PBR Ohio, was also named the GCL Co-Player of the Year. 

Congratulations to Matt on this truly historic achievement and good luck with your college decision. 

However, the season is far from over. Ponatoski's #1 goal is to help his team deliver baseball state championship #10.
