Regional Championship Recap:
Moeller and Lakota West met for the third year in a row this past Friday night in the OHSAA Regional Final.
The Crusaders used a dominant defensive effort to propel themselves back to their third straight Final Four appearance.
It took the Moeller offense a while to really get going in this one.
Moeller's defense scored the lone Crusader touchdown in the first half.
Notre Dame commit
Karson Hobbs recovered a West fumble and took it back to the house for a Moeller touchdown.
It was 10-0 Big Moe at the end of the first quarter.
Devin Orr tacked on another field goal late in the second quarter to bring the halftime score to 13-0.
The Moeller defense would continue its stellar performance deep into the second half.
Senior captain
Kyler Paul was the leader once again for Big Moe finishing with 9 total tackles, 8 solo tackles, 2 TFL's, 2 sacks, and a game sealing INT.
Coach Acito's big boys up front were also a massive factor in this win.
They had Lakota West's quarterback on skates for most of the evening.
Virginia commit
Jewett Hayes led the way for the guys up front finishing with 6 total tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.
The Crusaders defense was able to do something that's very hard to do, shutout a Tom Bolden coached team.
Moeller held Lakota West to 0 points for the first time all season.
The "Havoc Mob" continues to prove why they are the best defense in Cincinnati.
The Crusaders offense was led once again by Michigan commit
Jordan Marshall.
Marshall finished the night carrying the ball 26 times for 101 yards and touchdown.
Marshall was also heavily involved in the passing game as well leading the team in receptions (5) and second in yards (49).
Sophomore quarterback
Matt Ponatoski finished the night 17-27 for 177 yards and no turnovers.
Moeller will need to continue to play this brand of complimentary football if they want to beat Springfield this Friday night.
The Moeller and Springfield trilogy is back this Friday night at Piqua High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm
See you there Crusaders fans. GO BIG MOE!!! BEAT SPRINGFIELD!!!
